Recent combination Studies with MSM, Glucosamine and Chondroitin

GAIT Study

The Glucosamine/Chondroitin Arthritis Intervention Trial (GAIT) is considered the most comprehensive clinical trial of these agents to date. This landmark study was designed to help defining the role of glucosamine/chondroitin for healthy joints. Results from GAIT have been presented on November 14, 2005 at the opening plenary session of the American College of Rheumatology Annual Scientific Meeting in San Diego.

Funded by the National Institutes of Health and conducted at 16 U.S. rheumatology centers, GAIT was designed to rigorously evaluate the efficacy and safety of glucosamine and chondroitin alone and in combination. The study measured the effects of taking glucosamine alone, chondroitin alone, a glucosamine/chondroitin combination or celecoxib alone against placebo in 1,258 participants. Results suggest that both glucosamine and chondroitin alone support healthy joints, but the combination of the two works best.

Study MSM and Glucosamine

The benefits of MSM in combination with glucosamine for healthy joints were shown in a recently published, randomized, double-blind trial, published in the journal Clinical Drug Investigations. It was found that both MSM and glucosamine alone  support healthy joints, but the combination of the two works best.
